OCEANN ENT
Tympanometry is a test that assesses the middle ear by measuring how your eardrum (also known as the tympanic membrane) responds to changes in air pressure. This can help with assessments concerning concerns including infection or fluid in the middle ear space, eardrum perforation, and Eustachian tube blockages.
A handheld probe-type device called a tympanometer is inserted into your ear for a few minutes where you may feel a seal and hear a hum. While the probe is in your ear, it is best to minimize movement, talking, and swallowing. Results are then recorded and processed onto a graph called a tympanogram in the office and reviewed with you by the providers on the same visit.
